When Kiawah Development Partners asked if we could help with the signage system for their new lodge and golf club in Doonbeg, Ireland, there was no hesitation on our part. A chance to work in Ireland? Absolutely. Not only did we design the directional, identification, orientation and regulatory signs but created the identity materials: from stationary to invitations to marketing pieces. These are just few pieces of the Doonbeg identity. The signage program was extensive involving the fabrication of all signs, front of house to back of house, in the classic craft of hand-cast aluminum. We found an extraordinary fellow, Phillip Shardlow, owner of Crofts Casting, who made signs on his farm in Whitby, South Wales. We literally worked together from measuring to installation. The salt of the earth I tell ya, hard-working and a pleasure to be around. We downed a few pints in this truly amazing country. A great project.
